Fox Photo Digital Photo Storage
Man. That was something. This Grey Fox took a nap, woke up and BAM! No more paper pictures. What a difference a couple of years make. I am from a large family and remember when, after we had left the nest, for Christmas we were given a camera that ejected the picture for viewing and saving. What a marvel that was. Today we snap a picture, view it on the finder, and save it to the internal drive of the digital camera, or on an internal storage disk. Too often we relax and think that is enough. And, for many photos it may very well be. However, what should we do with the really good ones? The digital photos that are of the babies first steps, that special birthday, a special pet kissing your new baby, the very scenes that are the foundation of our memories.
It is for these special shots that we need to consider our digital storage. First ….. keep them in triplicate. It may sound crazy, and I certainly hope you will never need them, but the risk of loss is just too great. We often read of unexpected loss, often say I’m glad that wasn’t me, but still we gamble. Well one day it could be “me”. A fire, storm, flood, break in, or any other number of tragic events. Storage is cheap. Certainly your memory disk in the digital camera is one, but also a memory stick, remote storage, that can be free on line, DVD disk, a digital photo frame, and yes even an external hard drive. Look at what you have now and consider adding to it, or upgrading your existing digital photo storage.
In our Fox Photo sites, when using triplicate storage, I like at least one as an online storage service. Shop around to see what best works for you. There are some free sites and other pay for use systems. When considering which to use think about what other data may be important for backing up that could also be stored on the remote site. Prices on the pay services for digital photo storage are really very modest for the security you receive especially when you consider the volume of storage. Whichever system you may elect to us in safeguarding your Digital Photos please confirm it will protect your memories.
Remember too that Digital Photos are sensitive even in the camera. Review my next article for some pointers on recovering, protection of Memory card mishaps or click this link to learn about Digital Photo Printers.
